SAREE QUEEN CONTEST  –  24th Dec  02.30pm – 05.00pm 

  • The Saree Contest is a friendly beauty pageant for the married ladies of our community.
  • 2 age groups – Under 35 years and over 35 years.
  • Each centre to give names of 2 ladies per category.
  • There will be 4 rounds.

Round # 1   Style of wearing/ draping a saree.   Introduction

Round # 2   Saree for a cocktail party. This is a Catwalk round.

Round # 3   Saree for a family wedding. This too will be a Catwalk round and top 3 from     each category move to the Question & Answer round.

Round #4   A Question and Answer round.

  • 2 different sarees with only ONE saree change.
  • There will be enough room for saree changing.
  • Marks to be awarded on grace, elegance, style, catwalk and question/answers
  • Judges decision will be final.

HAAR MAKING COMPETITION   –   25th Dec  08.00am – 10.00am

  • Event is open to anyone over the age of 18 years.
  • Only one person per haar.
  • Requirements for the haar will be provided to each participant.
  • No extra decorations will be allowed. Participants to use only materials provided.
  • Marks will be awarded for neatness, originality, visual appeal.
  • The haar should be completed in the given time.
  • Judges decision will be final.
  • Competition to start at 08.00am sharp and end at 10.00am sharp. Time will not be extended for late entrants.

LAGNA GEET COMPETITION  –  26th Dec  02.30pm – 05.00pm

  • Every participating centre to have a group of 3 ladies.
  • Colour theme of green or red sarees.
  • Participants should be dressed up as if attending a wedding, 30% marks will be awarded for dressing.
  • Every group should prepare lagna geet from ‘kankotri’ to ‘vidai’ including ‘fatana’.
  • Each group will be given a grace period of 15 seconds to start the songs per round.

Bride’s (Kanya) name —————– BHURI

Groom’s ( Varaja) name ————- BHURO

The above mentioned names should be incorporated where necessary in your Lagna Na Geet.

LSCF MASTERCHEF  –   25th Dec  02.30pm – 05.00pm

  • Event open to all community members over 16 years.
  • Every participating centre to give names of 3 people.
  • Judgement will be based on taste, presentation, innovation and
  • There will be 3 rounds:

Round # 1   – The audition test.  2 participants will be chosen from each centre to proceed to round 2.

Round # 2   – All participants will be provided ingredients and cooking utensils to make food items.

Top 5 scorers will proceed to the final round.

Round # 3   – The 5 finalists will each be given ingredients and utensils to prepare a meal and will be judged accordingly.

Recipe and method will be provided.

Of the 5 participants ONE will be chosen as the MASTERCHEF.

  • Judges decision will be final.

DEBATE  –  26th Dec  10.00am – 12.30pm

 Debate Topic, in Gujarati, is as follows:


  • Each person will be given 5 minutes to present their debate topic.
  • The bell will ring once at 4 minutes and 3 times at 5 minutes to alert the participants that their time is up.
  • Out of all centres registering, one half will propose the motion and the other half will oppose the motion. Entries are 1 participant per centre.
  • Participants are required to speak in Gujarati. However, English words may be used in case of no direct translation to Gujarati.
  • Only designated speakers from each centre are allowed to participate.
  • Participants are allowed to refer to their notes on a piece of paper, while presenting their arguments. However, judges may penalize for excessive reading which results in unnatural delivery.
  • The winning team will receive an award each, including ONE best speaker from either side.
